Daily Salvation

ב) שִׁירוּ לַה’ בָּרְכוּ שְׁמוֹ בַּשְֹּרוּ מִיּוֹם לְיוֹם יְשׁוּעָתוֹ:

Sing to Hashem, bless His Name, proclaim His salvation from day to day.

The Malbim explains that those who just see Hashem as the Creator of the universe may well praise Him, whereas those who realise that Hashem is also the Source of all goodness will go further and bless Him.

When a person comes to a level of recognition that Hashem is the provider of everything that we need to live and flourish, they will ask Hashem for more. This is what we mean by a bracha, which as explained yesterday, means extension.

One who lives with this realisation will live with also develop a sense of awareness that Hashem’s perpetual involvement in the world brings with it salvation from challenging situations on a daily basis. Whilst we don’t see all of our problems solved instantly, we can appreciate that we are part of a process  where Hashem is in control, taking care of us, and that the outcome that He has in mind for us is ultimately the best one possible.

This is what we mean when we say in the brachos before the Shema in the morning, ‘For He alone performs mighty deeds, makes new things, is Master of wars, sows kindnesses, makes salvations blossom, creates cures, is too awesome for praise, is Lord of wonders. In His goodness, He renews daily, perpetually the work of creation.’

By saying this bracha every the morning and focussing on its meaning, we proclaim His salvation from day to day.
