As if that would ever happen…

ב) שִׁירוּ לַה’ בָּרְכוּ שְׁמוֹ בַּשְֹּרוּ מִיּוֹם לְיוֹם יְשׁוּעָתוֹ:

Sing to Hashem, bless His Name, proclaim His salvation from day to day.

The Malbim notes that the word בשורה (proclamation), from which the word בשרו (proclaim) is derived is a term that is used for something that is somewhat out of the ordinary.

We do not proclaim events that happen on a constant basis, rather we proclaim those outcomes that are not guaranteed to happen. One would therefore not think to proclaim the rising of the sun in the morning, as this is something that happens on a daily basis. None of us go to sleep at night entertaining a doubt as to whether the sun will rise in the morning.

Our pasuk tells is that we should alter our thinking and should not take the rising of the sun for granted. Rather we should appreciate that sunrise is actually an expression of Hashem’s renewal of creation on a daily basis. There are no guarantees that the sun will rise tomorrow, rather, like everything, it is totally dependant on Hashem’s will.

The word בשרו, proclaim is used to refer to salvation that happens on a daily basis in order to teach us not to take ordinary events for granted. When we do so, we live with a heightened sense of appreciation and zest for life.
