יא) יִשְׂמְחוּ הַשָּׁמַיִם וְתָגֵל הָאָרֶץ יִרְעַם הַיָּם וּמְלֹאוֹ:
The heavens will rejoice and the earth will exult; the sea and the fullness thereof will roar.
This pasuk, which we recite daily is clearly not to be taken at face value. The Radak says this this pasuk, and the ones that follow it, are a mashal, parable. They refer to the great rejoicing that will be felt when Moshiach comes as a result of the era of world peace that he will user in.
The Ibn Ezra suggests, along very similar lines that this pasuk means that the world will be a very calm and tranquil place, once the world have seen Hashem’s tzedek.
This concept is discussed in great depth by Rav Hirsch and I hope to share it over the coming week.
