Clap Your Hands

כל העמים תקעו כף

All peoples, clap hands; shout to G-d with a voice of praise

Most translations follow the commentaries[1] who translated תקעו כף as  the clapping of hands. Rashi however, says it is sound of those who gather together to serve Hashem with the voice of song. The Radak interprets this pasuk in an even broader sense saying that  the Jewish people will call to the nations to do so and they will respond positively as they are now aware of Hashem’s kingship.

The Malbim explains that nowadays nations are in conflict for one of two main reason. 1) Religion – they wish to convert others 2) power and control. In the future, during the time of Moshiach, neither of these reasons will be factors or will prove problematic.

Rather, nations will not lift up their hands and fight and hold swords against each other. They will hold hands and be united in their common coronation of Hashem as their King. They will do so by sounding a great  תרועה unifying them as family of common believers.
